National Science Day is a large-scale, nationwide, mass science popularization event jointly organized by the China Association for Science and Technology, the Propaganda Department of the CPC Central Committee, the Ministry of Education, and other departments. It has been held continuously for 20 sessions so far.

On the morning of September 17, the opening ceremony of the 2023 Xiamen "National Science Day" was successfully held at the Xiamen Art Museum. This year's Science Day event was jointly sponsored by 23 units including the Xiamen Association for Science and Technology, the Propaganda Department of the Xiamen Municipal Party Committee, the Xiamen Municipal Education Bureau, and the Xiamen Municipal Science and Technology Bureau. With the theme of "Enhancing the Scientific Literacy of the Entire Population and Boosting Scientific and Technological Self-Reliance," the event carried out a series of activities throughout the city through a combination of online and offline methods, including special science popularization actions, science popularization volunteer services, awarding science education prizes, and the presentation ceremony for science popularization education bases.
